Industry recognition as UPL scoops the top awards at this years BIBAs as both Business of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year

We are delighted to announce that UPL have just been recognised as winners of two key categories at this year’s BIBA awards*:    Manufacturer of the Year and also the top award of Business of the Year.

The nominees for these awards were the very best of North West companies, so we can all be very proud that UPL were successful in winning both of these awards.

 

 

After the winners were announced UPL’s Managing Director, Mike Peters commented:

“We have been informed many times that our customers have won awards for their products, which of course are formulated and manufactured by us, so it gives me great pleasure that for once UPL people have been recognised for their creativity, productivity and their contribution to the local community, and the industry we serve proudly.

It is a great credit to everyone at UPL that the work we have been doing in recent years has been recognised by the North West Chamber of Commerce in this way, and we are delighted and privileged to be in the company of the other finalists who have clearly worked so hard throughout the current economic downturn.”

The awards ceremony was held at a Gala Dinner in Preston on 31st August, and UPL were represented by a cross section of personnel, and a very good time was had by all.

*The BIBA’s are the biggest Business Awards Competition in Lancashire and they are awarded to outstanding businesses and their leaders who have thrived during the past year and they create an ideal opportunity for local firms to celebrate their talent, success and achievements. The BIBA’s are hosted by the North West Chamber of Commerce and consists of sixteen award categories that recognise excellence across a number of areas.

 

 

 

UPL supports local youth football team

The YMCA Lytham under 14 football team is celebrating winning the Lancashire Cup for the 2nd consecutive year, and to acknowledge the success of this team of local lads, UPL is helping to treat them all to a weekend away at Alton Towers. UPL has a strong commitment to supporting the local community and was happy to donate funds to ensure that the boys can celebrate their success in style.

It is now more than a year since the last ‘Lost Time Accident’ took place on our site. This is great news for the company as it means we remain as one of the safest manufacturing companies within the North West.

Thanks to everyone for staying safe, there is still a lot of work to do to ensure we keep improving, but this figure reflects the hard work by everyone at UPL to reduce our accident & incident rates.
