We are delighted to confirm that UPL’s Clean Water Campaign to raise funds to assist the millions of people worldwide who do not have access to clean water has been an outstanding success! After a week of challenging events by the staff, family and friends of UPL we have managed to raise a fantastic £5000 for this charity.
UPL staff successfully organised the following ‘Water themed’ events during November:
Nov 20th: A 37 mile Sponsored ‘Sea View’ Bike Ride. This started out from the UPL factory on a very cold and misty day and participants had to cycle a very ‘hilly’ route to 266m above sea level! This took them to the Sea View Point at the summit of Beacon Fell in the Trough of Bowland overlooking Morcambe Bay, although the heavy mist and fog did prevent them from getting a satisfying view from the summit. They then cycled all the way back to the UPL factory, with a much needed stop for ‘sustenance’ in the pub on the way back!
The North West weather made our fundraisers work extremely hard to complete the two challenges and we are very proud and grateful for their achievements.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in these events and a big thank you to everyone who sponsored our intrepid cyclists and walkers. The £5000 raised will make a huge difference to many people’s lives.
2010 was another busy year for NPD, the department worked on upgrading existing products and in excess of 150 new products went into the marketplace. We worked on skincare regimes across all ages for both men and women, from those inspired by natural ingredients to the latest high-tech actives. Haircare remained a core strength at UPL and many of our customers have upgraded their care products to meet the ever increasing demands of customers and retailers to offer improved performance at lower cost.
We have been involved in some exciting product launches where we have been able to work on extremely efficacious care and styling products in both the retail and salon sector. 2010 also gave us an opportunity to work on some more specialised areas, including premium products targeting particular skin solutions, illuminating skincare products, self tanning products and SPF whether it be within skincare or traditional suncare products.
We have had an exciting start to 2011 with an unprecedented number of products being launched in the first quarter of the year, members of our team visited in-Cosmetics and so we are busy looking at the new ingredient concepts and trends coming through, whether it be exotic spices for bath & body, skin brighteners and anti-cellulite solutions or products targeting the scalp to strengthen the hair.
